Common time management problems

Published On: 2/17/2012

Increasing efficiency in the workplace by using an innovative time clock may lead to improved productivity. Workers at all levels can struggle with effectively managing their time, which can lead to stress and anxiety - psychological characteristics that only further decrease productivity.

Approximately 75 percent of Americans experience substantial stress at work, and about 50 percent admitted that their work productivity decreased due to stress, according to a nationwide poll by the American Psychological Association (APA).

To decrease stress and increase productivity, a worker shoud try to identify common time management problems and adjust accordingly to avoid them.

1. Busy versus effective. Identifying where time has gone is the first thing to do to correct inefficient time management practices. Often times, workers will get caught up with busy work instead of finishing the projects that truly require their time and attendance.

2. Purely reacting. Workers in a constant state of reaction miss out on the opportunity to plan and schedule projects according to need. People in reaction mode are often stressed. Conversely, those who prepare and delegate their time, are better able to prioritize responsibilities while they are on the time clock.
